Jane BELL
Born: 16 March 1873
Died: 6 August 1959
Special Achievements:1920s - Appointed first tutor Sister and founded first Preliminary Training Course in Victoria. Matron of Royal Melbourne Hospital.
1934 - Established first post graduate nursing course in Melbourne, Victoria.
1899 - Founded Royal Australian Nurses Federation and Royal Victorian College of Nursing. Fought for and won independence of Australian Army Nursing Service in World War I.
1910-1934 - Superintendent of Melbourne Hospital, Victoria.
1 January 1944 - Appointed Officer of The Order of the British Empire (Civil), for her work as president of the Royal Victoria College of Nursing.
2013 - Inducted into the Victorian Honour Roll of Women.
