NPWHF0233 - Wedding Dress
Wedding dress, satin cream coloured with long train. The dress is long-sleeved with three covered buttons at the end of each sleeve and 21 covered satin buttons down the back. The dress is gathered at the breast and at the base of the back, but otherwise falls freely. It is machine stitched with hand sewn finishing, unlined.
Pat Fleming came to the Northern Territory with her husband Baptist minister and missionary, Tom "TJ" Fleming in 1950.
Later in life, she moved to Alice Springs where she and Tom were active members of the NT National Trust, as was their close friend Barbara Braitling, who donated this dress to the Museum after Pat passed away in 1995.
Pat was a life member and it is perhaps for this reason that objects like this dress, as well as built heritage in Alice Springs has been preserved.
