A). Brown “Fibrelite” case. 390 mm x 245 mm x 85 mm. Three (3) hinges and a clasp lock in chrome steel. Bearing three labels 1). “Supplied by Watson Victor Ltd., Australia WATVIC (logo) New Zealand”; 2). “Americ)an Cystoscope Makers Inc., Pelham Manor, New York” & “Iglesias Multiple Resectoscope, Patent 3589793”; 3). “OT Resectoscope”.
(i) Two Cystoscopes. Chromed Steel. Each 270 mm long; 2 sizes: 22F and 24 F (F = “French gauge” the established diameter scale used for urological instruments). Each cystoscope comprises a cylindrical shaft with removable obturator matching the shaft diameter. One of the obturator tips can be manipulated to a 15 degree angle to fascilitate the instrument’s entry into the bladder when in use. At the operator end of the shaft there is a locking mechanism to house the obturator and two on/off taps which permit the control of irrigation when the instrument is in use.
(ii) 1 Telescope Carrier. A chrome steel part which locks into the operator end of the cystoscope when the obturator has been removed. This enables the Telesccope and Fiberoptic light source to be attached on to the cystoscpe. The carrier incorporates two on/off taps to enable the operator to manage the irrigation when in use.

(iii) Telescope and Fiberoptic Light source. 230mm L x 4mm D stainless steel cylindrical shaft incorporating a fiberoptic cable internally, an angled mirror at the instrument tip (to angle light into the bladder and facilitate vision into the illuminated area). At the operator end is an eye piece bearing the manufacturer’s markings and the angle of the mirror (70 degrees). The Telescope locks into the Telescope Carrier when positioned in the cystoscope. A lug near the eyepiece permits attachment of the electrical cable from the power (light) source.

(iv) 3 Resectoscope Cystoscopes. 3 diameters: 24F, 26F and 28F. 250 mm L with obturator in situ. Obturators have articulated tips (see above) and lock into the operator end of the cystoscope. With the obturator removed each cystoscope comprises a brown fibreglass cylindrical shaft (24F, 26F, 28F diameters) with a bevelled tip, and, at the operator’s end, a locking lug and wing nut to accept the Resectoscope, a short bar set at right angles to the shaft’s long axis to allows the instrument to be rotated around its long axis in use, and a nozzle to attach an irrigation hose.

(v) Resectoscope. A trigger actioned instrument used by inserting it into its cystoscope (above) locking into place using the same mechanism that locks the obturator to allow the operator to be able to remove part of the prostate gland (trans urethral prostatectomy). The instrument accepts a cutting electrode (diathermy) which can be moved forwards and backwards in the slotted shaft with the trigger mechanism to slice off sections of tissue while at the same time cauterizing the cut surface to control bleeding. The instrument allows the telescope and fiberoptic lightsource to be positioned and locked into the Resectoscope’s slotted shaft so that the operator can illuminate and view the operation of the cutting electrode. There is an on/off tap to control irrigation of the operation site (bladder, urethra), a screw lock to locate the Telescope, and a locking screw to attach the electrode cutter. On either side of the trigger are lugs to accept the positive and negative electric cables from the power source which energise the electrode cutter. The trigger comprises a thumb hole and a loop of stainless steel as a spring allowing about 40mm of forward backward movement.

(vi) 6 Electrode cutters. Stainless steel shaft enclosing the electric cables to the cutting tip, 3 mm D x 220 mm L. At the cutter end a 25 mm L locating cylinder (to locate into the resectoscope’s slotted shaft and terminating in the cutting electrode. The electric cables are sheathed with only the cutting electrode tip exposed.

(vii) Obturator for Resectoscope. Straight shaft to close the Telescope opening and slotted cylinder.
(viii) Assorted Bits. 3 on/off taps,( 2x straight, Ix 3way). 1x hose clamp. 2x nozzles. 2x corkscrew ended ? reamers (not sure what these are for or how these assorted bits are incorporated into the instruments setup.
