NPWHF1301 a,b - Coronation Medal and Certificate
Coronation Medal and Certificate. Measures 19 cm wide by 24.7 cm length. Certificate appears to have been taped into an album as three spaced lines showing discolouration on front cover.
The medal is in a red box measuring 9.5 cm wide by 8 cm length and 2 cm high. On the top, printed in black ink, is the: crown - 19 E-II-R 53 - CORONATION MEDAL (in a half circle)
The box is cardboard and appears to have been taped from the front middle to the back cover middle. The red paper is separating.
Inside the top lid, printed in black ink is: BOW FOR THE USE OF LADIES. - To suspend the medal to the bow, pass the tab of the ribbon on the back of the bow through the ring of the medal and sew down the end of the tab.
The bottom box contains a partition. In the top half is the red ribbon, folded in thirds. In its entirety it measures 22.5 cm in length and 3 cm in width. The colours are white, red, blue, red, blue, red, white.
The ladies’ bow measures 8.6 cm in width and 3 cm in length. The colours are the same. Hanging from it is the silver [coloured?] medal. On the front is Queen Elizabeth II. On the back is from top, going clockwise: QUEEN ELIZABETH II CROWNED 2ND JUNE 1953 - In the middle is the crown with EIIR under it. The medal measures 3.2 cm in diameter.
