Agnes Elizabeth Lloyd BENNETT

First woman to gain a science degree at Sydney University (1899).
1915 - Became the first female commissioned officer in the British Army.
1923 - Became the first president of the Wellington branch of the International Federation of University Women.
1899 - Graduated College of Medicine for Women, University of Edinburgh (M.B., Ch.M.).
1908-36 - Chief medical officer, St Helen's maternity hospital.
1910 - Honorary physician to the children's ward of Wellington Hospital.
1911 - Completed M.D., University of Edinburgh.
1916-17 - She was in charge of a unit of the Scottish Women's Hospitals on the Serbian front.
1936 - Represented New Zealand at International Federation of University Women world conference at Cracow, Poland.
1939 - Helped to form the Women's War Service Auxiliary.
1948 - Appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire.
