Ruth Violet Lissant DOBSON

Born: 5 October 1918

Died: 14 December 1989

Special Achievements:

1974 - Ruth Dobson became the first female career diplomat appointed to an ambassadorial position, Ambassador to Denmark.

1982 - Made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE), in recognition of her services to the Australian Public Service.

2016 - The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade named a room (one of 16) in her honour "in recognition of her work as a pioneering female diplomat".
