Joyce Inga ELLIS

Special Achievements:Joyce Inga Ellis was the first Aerial Medical Sister at Alice Springs from 1962 to 1967. With the Aerial Medical Doctor, she spoke daily by radio to people with medical problems, throughout the Centre. She was also responsible for keeping comprehensive medical records of all out-of-town people, and made hundreds of emergency flights to evacuate seriously injured or sick patients.
Additional Information:2007 - Her ashes were placed under a memorial plaque at the National Pioneer Women’s Hall of Fame (now the Women’s Museum of Australia), 31 August.
