Marie HENDERSON

Special Achievements:

Suffering from an hereditary form of deafness which deteriorated over the years, in 1945 the former Melbourne housewife was the first National Secretary and key figure in the foundation of the Australian Association of Better Hearing.  This organisation has helped many of the nation's profoundly deaf and hard of hearing.

Marie suffered deafness herself yet was a tireless worker to help the hearing impaired. She helped in the formation of the State organisations and then the Australia wide organisation. She was the first Honorary National Secretary 1946-1955 and Victorian President 1940-1941 and Victorian Honorary Secretary 1941-1954
