Ella Annie Noble MacKNIGHT

Special Achievements:

First woman to serve on the Asian Federation of Obstetrics & Gynaecology in 1965, she was also first female president of the Australian Council of the Royal College of Obstetrics & Gynaecologists, in 1970. Back in 1929, a year after graduating in medicine from the University of Melbourne, she had gained her private (30 November 1929) pilot's license, only the seventeenth woman in Australia, and sixth in Victoria to do so.

First woman to serve on Australian Regional Council and also first female Australian president awarded Order of Dame of the British Empire in 1969, for her services to medicine.
