Mary Helen MacKILLOP
Born: 15 January 1842
Died: 8 August 1909
Special Achievements:17 Oct 2010 - Australia's first Catholic saint - Saint Mary MacKillop of the Cross - Canonized in Vatican City by Pope Benedict XVI.
2001 Victorian Honour Roll of Women.
In 1867 Mary MacKillop and Father Julian Woods formed the first religious Order by an Australian - the Order of the Sisters of St Joseph in Adelaide ("Joeys").
In 1995 the Pope pronounced her "Blessed," a saint for Australia and New Zealand.
