Elizabeth REID

Special Achievements:

In 1973 she became the first adviser on women's affairs to a head of State when appointed to assist Australian Labor Prime Minister Gough Whitlam, overseeing the Government's arrangements for International Women's Year in 1975. This position ultimately developed into the Women's Affairs Section (later the Office of the Status of Women) of the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet.
