Special Achievements:

1982 - Believed to be the first Aboriginal woman to gain her Private Pilot's Licence (Cessna 150)
2001 - Only Aboriginal entrant to compete in Centenary of Federation London to Sydney Air Race

Additional Information:

Born in Dubbo, Virginia is a descendant of the Goonoo  people of western New South Wales. Shewas schooled in Wambangaland and Yeoval before completing her Nurses Training at Dubbo Hospital. 

Virginia learnt to fly at Parkes (NSW) in 1982 where she became the first Aboriginal woman to gain a private pilot's licence.

She worked as a casual Registered Nurse at the Yeoval hospital for 26 years before becoming the operator of the Angora Tourist Farm at Lyle, Yeoval in 2006.
