To celebrate the achievements of Australian women over the last 100 years, the Women's Museum of Australia created two identical Signature Quilts. One is displayed at the Museum in Alice Springs while the other was raffled.
Each quilt is made up of calico squares, all signed by Australian women who have recorded firsts or those who have made significant achievements within their field, with alternate patches of patterned fabric, appropriate to the signatory’s field.
A University of Adelaide science graduate and chief demonstrator in their Zoology department during the 1930s, she became the first woman appointed to the Board of the South Australian Museum in 1952 on which she served until 1984.
