HerStory is a physical archive containing thousands of documents, photographs and correspondence kept in files.
Over time, we are making these available online, honouring women’s achievements as an integral part of Australian history.
You can explore the stories in the archive by clicking the link below.
Stories of significant Australian women, their achievements and contributions, are featured in this unique resource dedicated to preserving this important aspect of Australian history. With a focus on pioneering women and those first in their field, this archive celebrates ordinary women who have led extraordinary lives.
The physical HerStory Archive holds thousands of photographs, media clippings, books, audios recordings, correspondence, objects and ephemera which the museum began collecting in 1993.
In 2000 we commenced developing the HerStory Archive online to make these remarkable women’s achievements accessible. Explore women’s achievements by just browsing or using search terms for topics, professions or individual you are interested in.
We are constantly updating and adding information and welcome new submissions, additions and alterations.
Please email curator@pioneerwomen.com.au if you can help us enrich our archive.
As a small not for profit organisation run largely by volunteers, we welcome donations with submissions and inquiries to assist us in sustaining this resource.
