We have approximately 25 volunteers, committed and enthusiastic people without whom we could not open our doors. They make a significant contribution to the museum in many different ways, including enhancing visitor experiences and assisting us with caring and conducting research on our collections.
You can volunteer at the museum to learn new skills and to share your enthusiasm with like-minded people. We are also very keen to welcome anyone interested in doing work experience or an internship with us. To get involved with the museum as a volunteer, contact the Business Manager or Curator to discuss.
We are currently looking for volunteers to join our shop. Our Visitor Experience volunteers greet visitors, process entry fees and shop sales, provide visitors with information about the museum, and keep the shop tidy. If you are interested in learning more about women’s role in history and today’s society, supporting a local non-profit, meeting new people or gaining retail skills, we would love to hear from you!
If you want a truly unique experience, the Women’s Museum of Australia and Old Alice Springs Gaol has caretaker couples that stay on-site to oversee our museum and gaol complex on weekends, and for some general maintenance and gardening work. We are ideally looking for six week or longer commitments. For more information on volunteer caretaker opportunities, contact operations@pioneerwomen.com.au or 08 8952 9006.
