Special Achievements
Lily trained as a nurse at the Royal Melbourne Hospital from late 1913-early 1917. After training, she served in France during the First World War and was sent to London due to illness. While convalescing she played at Wimbledon in 1919, where she reached the third round, being beaten by Suzanne Lenglen who went on to be a five times Wimbledon champion. After the tournament, Addison returned to Australia. She was selected into the Victorian tennis team to play against New South Wales in November 1919. In 1921, she worked at Melbourne Hospital again, but was able to win the Victorian championships for a last time.
