Special Achievements

  • First woman to be a partner at a big eight accounting firm (Price Waterhouse) in 1977. First woman to be State and National president of CPA (Certified Practicing Accountants) Australia. Honoured in the Australian Accounting Hall of Fame as a pioneer female practitioner, mentor and standard-setter for auditing standards and regulation.

Additional Information

  • Has held, and holds, many senior influential positions e.g. Independent Chair of the Audit Committee of the Australian Prudential Regulator; past National President of the Australian Institute of Company Directors; National President and Director of the Winston Churchill Fellowship Trust. Elizabeth has worked continuously to empower women both within the accounting profession and the wider business community. In 1990, Elizabeth was awarded an AM (Member of the Order of Australia) for services to accountancy. Elizabeth was also the 21st Chancellor of the University of Melbourne between 2011 and 2016.
