• 1983 - First observer woman posted to Queensland 1984 - First woman posted to Willis Island 1986 - First woman to winter on the Antarctic Continent for the Bureau of Meteorology 1988 - First woman to obtain senior observer position in Bureau of Meteorology 1989 First woman awarded prestigious outstanding service to the Antarctic (along with Lynn Williams) First woman ever to complete winter postings to all four Australian Antarctic Bases. 

Additional Information

• In all, Denise completed nine Antarctice voyages which included six wintering trips. Her last winter was completed in 2007 at Davis station.
