Special Achievements

  • 1945 - Founder of The War Widows’ Guild of Australia, to provide support in social and welfare aspects and by providing government representation on forums and campaigning for increased pensions.  The Guild also built housing for war widows at a time when accommodation was scarce and unaffordable.
  • 1959 - Founder of The Vasey Housing Association, New South Wales which provides housing for war widows, ex-service women, and those with strong service affiliations.
  • 2001 - Inducted onto the Victorian Honour Roll of Women.
  • 2008 - Inducted onto Victorian Honour Roll of Women.

  • 1921 - Graduated University of Melbourne, Bachelor of Arts.
  • Widow of Major General Alan Vasey CB, CBE, DSO.

An investiture ceremony was held at Government House where service personnel received awards from the Governor General, the Duke of Gloucester. Mrs Vasey, widow of General Vasey, talks with the Governor of Victoria, Sir Winston Dugan. Mrs Vasey received the CB (military), CBE and BAR to the DSO awarded to her husband.
